What will be

Where we are at the moment and what will be after? At least we know the present and try to plan the future. Time will tell how well our plans work out.

We havent played live since July 2010. Right after that gig the summer holiday season started so we had some time off. Then we gathered for rehearsal and agreed that we will focus on making a CD. It ment that we played the songs during 2-3 training sessions and then recorded us live with a Zoom H2 (Juha played drums with a headphone click).

Next planned step was to record the drums in our rehearsal site. So Juha started his recording sessions. He made some microphone tests with his two drum sets (it took quite awhile) and now he has done most of his part. Meanwhile our weekly practise sessions came to a four week stop because Markku caught a flu and was not able to sing at all.

After Juha has done his drums we'll make rough stereo mixes of the drum tracks and start to work simultaneously in two (or three) sessions. Matti has a home studio so the guitars and perhaps vocals will be done there. I am not sure where Petri's bass will be recorded (in his house perhaps). I will do the keyboard parts here (at my house). Perhaps I'll do also my backing vocals here but another possibility is to do the singing at Matti's or in the house where Supernormals practises. My backing vocals should be done in sync with Markku's and Matti's singing so it may be difficult to do vocals in separate sessions.

We don't have a release date for the CD. That does not mean that we will record and re-record the tracks and polish the mixes forever. After all we do rock music! On the other hand we don't spit the CD out before it is properly done. It'll take a few months because we have our daytime jobs to take care of. This session comes second (or third or fourth...) in our personal priority lists.

We have thought that we don't play live gigs during the recording session. This is not a strict rule. If an interesting gig opportunity is offered for Supernormals we will take it. An interesting gig opportunity is not the usual "Come and play in the corner of our bar. You'll get drinks for a discount and some money (almost certainly less money than the band spends for gasoline in order to reach the scene). And hey, did I mention that we'll expect seven customers fot that night!" ;)

When the CD is out we'll do some giggin'!
